Step 1: Make Sure Both iPhones Are Charged and Connected to Wi-Fi
Before you begin, ensure both your old and new iPhones are charged up and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. This helps speed things up and prevents any interruptions during the process.
Step 2: Update Both iPhones to the Latest iOS
Having the latest iOS version on both devices ensures compatibility and smooth data transfer.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- Download and install the latest update if available.
There are three main ways to transfer data:
Option A: Quick Start (Recommended for iOS 12.4 and later)
This is the easiest method and uses your old phone to set up the new one.
- Turn on your new iPhone and place it next to your old one.
- A pop-up will appear on your old phone asking if you want to set up the new device.
- Follow the prompts — you’ll use your current iPhone to scan the animation on the new one.
- Choose Transfer from iPhone to start moving data wirelessly.
- Keep both phones close together until the process completes. It might take a while, depending on how much data you have.
Option B: iCloud Backup
Use this if your old iPhone is no longer in your possession or if Quick Start doesn’t work.
- On your old iPhone, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup, then tap Back Up Now.
- On your new iPhone, during setup, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
- Sign in with your Apple ID and select the most recent backup.
Option C: iTunes or Finder Backup (Using a Computer)
Good if you prefer a wired connection or want a full backup.
- Connect your old iPhone to your computer.

- Select your device and choose Back Up Now.
